Lately I've been drawn to pretty pink colors and cozy flannel fabrics. This outfit is they best of both worlds merging bright bubblegum pink pants with a cozy flannel dress. A cream colored knit shirt keeps baby's arms warm. Her sweet little knit hat and baby shoes complete the look.

Here are a couple of pictures of the shoes I made for the Christmas Swap. They are leather with top-stitched detail. I made them a little roomy so socks can be worn with them. I like the way they turned out and hope the recipient will like them too.

Here is a picture of the Beautiful outfit and toy made by Sonya. It came all the way from Australia. I think it is quite perfect for my toddler Elke. Thank You Sonya! Now I just need to make her some winter shoes.

Sasha Re-root Mid 70's Red Head

There is something I love about a doll with red hair. Maybe because they are so rare in my collection. This doll had bangs that were a mess. I re-rooted her bangs about 2 months ago. The hair is a pretty close match and I'm happy with the results. Now all she needs is a name.

Here are a few pictures of the items I received from Jackie. I originally was planning on using the adorable gray vest and socks for Gregor, but I remembered these really cute Boneka boots that would look so cute with a skirt on Sasha. I finally finished that pink plaid wool flannel skirt. The outfit is being modeled on my re-rooted mid-1970's Sasha. In the wood high chair (an antique store find) is baby Mickey modeling a very sweet smocked baby gown. Thank You Jackie for all the goodies!

Here is a picture of the outfit I sent to Jackie for the Autumn swap. I made the skirt, leggings and hat. I embellished the adorable sweater that was part of a lot purchased on ebay. Unfortunately I don't remember who knitted it. I do love the bright colors.

Kylie's Vintage Fabric Outfit

While cleaning out my Grandma's attic I came across this adorable pink floral vintage cotton fabric. I also found a cool textured cotton piece of fabric that may have been a dish cloth. In true Sasha M style I had to craft a pair of bloomers to go with her floral tunic. This is my 1st attempt at an Asian outfit, a few minor tweaks and I hope to have them for sale by the holidays.

Everything Old is New Again...Meet Kylie

Meet Kylie... Kylie was once a poor shabby baby who's eyes had turned green and looked to have had her hair burned in a spot. I cut her remaining hair short and repainted her facial features in high quality acrylic paints. She is now a delightful Asian baby who has a bit of spunk. I may repaint her lips a softer shade, but haven't decided yet.

Some things happen once in a lifetime.

I was about 2 hours into my 560 mile drive home from the Sasha Festival and I saw a billboard for an antique mall. I needed to top off the tank of gas so I figured why not stop. I realized this was the same antique mall I tried to find on my way to the festival. I originally turned right when I should have turned left. This time I went a mile and a half into town and found the store. When I went into the store a little voice in my head said there is sure to be a Sasha waiting just for me. I proceeded to browse the many aisles and got about 2/3 of the way through the store and began to get discouraged. I turned the corner at the back of the store and couldn't believe my eyes...there at the bottom of a locked case was a stunning blonde gingham Sasha with her crayon tube. I quickly went to the front of the store and told the front desk that there is a doll I would like to buy. They did not know anything about Sasha dolls and I had much to tell. She has white stringing and a large silver tag with made in serie england on the back. Her shoes are white with top-stitching and heels. Her eyes look like they have hand finishing and the star pupils. Her lips are very pale. She looks like she has a wide face. She has very thick bangs and very long hair. The only issue was that her face was very dirty. I just gave her a washing and she is lovely now. I found her in Beloit Wisconsin and named her Bella which means beautiful and God is my oath. I especially like her eyes that look almost green. She is wearing a 2011 Festival souvenir dress.

Here is Annika posing as Chelsea Clinton in the Dress a Sasha Contest. Lots of hand ribbon embroidery and beading adorn the bodice and hair barrette. The pattern was designed by me and I even crafted light pink leather ballet slippers to complete her outfit. It was very fun to create this ensemble.

My Beloved Grandma and Grandpa passed away in the last 6 months. They are the ones who raised me from the time I was 14 months old. My Grandma was the one who instilled in me the love of dolls and would pick up various dolls at the Goodwill, Salvation army thrift store, or one of the many Garage sales she would frequent. I have been tasked with helping to clean out her house and get my many childhood belongings out of there. On Friday I decided it would be a good day to start. I began with the upstairs of the house as that became the dumping ground of overflow stuff that time forgot. I think you know where this is going. I opened a random box only to discover a very beautiful early sexed Sasha baby girl. She has white stringing in her arms and legs and hand painted eyes. They have a lovely lavender shading that I have never seen previously on my other baby dolls. She was a little grubby and has had a bath and hair wash, but I love her even with her flaws. I have named he Mickey after my Grandma (that was her nickname from her roller derby days that stuck with her all her life). The very funny thing is that this was not one of my childhood dolls. I think she picked it up somewhere and put it away for me as I would have been too small for it in the early 70's. Maybe she just forgot about it as I got older. At any rate I feel as if I just received a great big hug from her. Now when I gaze at Mickey I will always remember my Grandma.

Sasha Autumn/Halloween Swap

Here's something a bit different than the norm. My Sasha 'Abby' is modeling a recent creation from Macon Street Studio. I was inspired to create a Gothic look for Sasha. I wanted to keep the sweet yet trendy style that I usually convey in my outfits, but didn't want to get to dark. My thought was what would a 10 yr old girl wear if she were to dress Goth? I love all the possibilities and have a stack of ideas to keep me busy for quite some time. I will be posting my sample boards in the future, but have not yet photographed them.

My Pinafore Entry takes 4th Place

Here is my take on the basic pinafore pattern designed by Ted Menton. I added that Macon Street flair. The boots are authentic Uggs that have been customized to coordinate with the outfit. The hat is my own design and one of my signature pieces that I love to add as a special touch when creating a great look. I will be posting an anatomy of my design in the near future, but thought a few pictures would be fun now.

Shoes for all seasons

Here is a lovely example of a studio style shoe I crafted this past week. It is a very butter soft leather with a suede sole glued on. That way the insole is the ivory leather as well. I hand stitch my shoes for an endearing look. I tried to sew them on a machine but that just did not give the look I desired. Hand stitching is almost therapeutic. It also keeps my hands out of the bag of Doritos. These lovely shoes will be on to their new owner this week.

The busy cobbler

The cobbler has been busy here at the studio. I was challenged to create an Asian style slipper influenced by the wonderful Sasha Puppen book. I crafted the hand sewn slipper from a very soft leather. The wedge heel was created from a cork material. It was sealed with a clear polish. The heel was then glued to the sole with a high quality glue made especially for cork. I really like the way they turned out. They will be on to their new owner this week.

Wish Upon a Star Holiday Swap Outfit

Here is a picture of the cute little duffel coat that I created for the Wish Upon a Star Holiday Swap. The coat was created from a fleece backed faux suede material using the Migros Sasha pattern. I like to interpret patterns and tweak them to suit my needs. I think it turned out adorable. I only wish I would have purchased more fabric. I think I have enough to make one more coat.

Arto is ready for the snow

Sasha Baby Eila Celebrates Fall

Happy Fall to All! My Sasha Baby Eila shows that pumpkins aren't just for Halloween. When the cat's away the mice will play. My Hubby and three boys went hunting this weekend. My darling daughter spent a day with a friend. So....I finally got to play in the studio and make a special fall outfit for Eila. This is a prototype outfit. I have to work out a few minor kinks in the pattern before I can sew this type of outfit to sell. The outfit consists of Trendon style overalls made from a fine wale corduroy and a striped knit raglan sleeve shirt and matching cap. The shoes are hand-stitched and made from red leather.

Here is a close up of Annika's new hand stitched leather shoes. They are in the classic studio style. The pattern is an original Migros pattern that was tweaked a bit to suit my purpose. I hope to have more summer shoes completed in the near future. Also watch for more summer outfits for Gregor. The boys are feeling a bit neglected.

Here's a full length view of Annika's Studio Style Dress. The lovely white cotton fabric with green floral print was part of the prize package from Ted for the Apron Dress Contest. It's funny how fabric speaks to you. This one was screaming ...Studio Style Dress. I added hemstitch detailing on the sleeve and near the hem.

Well...Here it is over a month ago that Annika got her dolly perm. She has waited and waited to get those darn rollers out. I told her not until I got her dress finished and the buttons on her shoes. She is very happy now, albeit a little sassy.

I'd like to introduce you to Anna. She started out as a Sasha Velvet. Her original dark wig just did not go with her beautiful light blue eyes. I gave her a blonde wig with wispy bangs and she stole my heart. I recently learned that my paternal Great Grandmother's name was Anna. It's the perfect name for this little sweetie.

Summer Swap

I'd just like to share a picture of the Sasha Summer Swap outfit I created. The swap was really fun. It's like Christmas in May. I like to title my outfits, so this one will be "Summer Fun". I was trying to make sandals to go with the outfit, but discovered that I not only made them too tight, but I glued the right strap to the left shoe. What's that saying..."measure twice, cut once". There has to be a similar one for making shoes. "fit twice...glue once".

I've been drooling over all the Beautiful Sasha Serie dolls that have been up for sale on ebay. My wallet; however, is on a diet. I love their big puddle eyes. My answer...a repaint! Meet Annika. I was inspired by an early Gotz Serie Doll picture from a few years back. She was painted with artist acrylics. Her original eye paint is underneath. I decided to give her freckles...or as my daughter calls them ~angel kisses.

My sister asked me tonight..."Why haven't you posted anything new on your Blog?" I can only come up with the same excuse...time. Well I have been busy. It's been Salon Day at Macon Street Studio. Our girls have to look their best to sport their new clothes. I've been working on a Studio style dress and hand stitched leather shoes. I'll post them later when they are complete. Now back to Salon Day. My lovely Sasha started out as a Sasha Sailing Suit with a broken leg. With some careful and creative work with a crochet hook and electrical ties, I was able to mend her leg. She now waits for her rollers to dry to show off her Dolly perm.

Here is a picture of my winning entry in a sewing contest hosted by Ted of Sasha Street. The name of my design is "Junior Volunteer". The apron dress is fully lined. The linen shirt under the dress is made from an original Migros pattern. It was really fun to get back to sewing. The simple pattern was the perfect blank canvas to get my creativity flowing. I am grateful to all those who voted for my design.
